Akira Gordon (she/they) is a Philadelphia-based painter and multidisciplinary artist whose work explores Black identity through vibrant color, narrative figuration, and imaginative composition. Born and raised in Philadelphia, she received her BFA in Painting from the University of the Arts. Her practice blends elements of portraiture, memory, and symbolism, often depicting figures in moments of leisure, reflection, and transition into adulthood.

Drawing inspiration from everyday life and personal experience, she experiments with unconventional color palettes and incorporates pattern and found materials to build layered, expressive surfaces. Through her work, she centers representation while creating intimate, visually rich scenes that blur the line between observation and imagination.
