Growing up in Philadelphia, Akira Gordon’s work is shaped by the people, places, and everyday moments that surround her. She draws from personal memory, leisure, and the experience of coming into oneself, often reflecting on the environments she has moved through her entire life.

Trained as a painter at University of the Arts, her practice extends into illustration, public art, and experimental materials. She has worked as an artist assistant and in museum spaces, experiences that inform both her making process and how she thinks about presentation and audience. Her work often explores unconventional uses of color, moments of reflection, and the incorporation of found objects to build textured, expressive surfaces.

When she is not painting, she loves to visit her local farmers or flea market, attend various creative events, and find inspiration in music, nightlife, and community. She is currently based in Philadelphia.
