hello! my name is akira and welcome to my website 🙂

i’m currently 23 years old and i’m working towards being a full time painter after graduating from college last year! i grew up in and am currently based in philly. i’ve recently become a studio assistant and i am working at a museum! aside from art, i love to make my own jewelry, crochet, and mend pieces of clothing that i thrift.

i’ve been very excited about bows and the color pink in my work lately. i got an airbrush a bit ago, and i’m finally able to experiment with it! i want to airbrush on shirts but i haven’t found a good place for blanks yet (it’s cold here and i want long sleeves!).

although i’m still trying to figure out what my art is really about; right now i’m focused on talking about my personal experiences in life living as a black woman in visually pleasing ways. i’m very technical in the way that i paint and see color.

making art after being in school has been tough, but i’m confident that i can still make wonderful works like i did during my undergrad!
